Resources Case Study
Implemented global purchase analytics solutions with Birst, connecting over 60% of Schneider’s ERP systems across 70 locations.
Schneider Electric SE is a French multinational corporation headquartered in Rueil-Malmaison, France. Schneider Electric is leading the Digital Transformation of Energy Management and Automation in Homes, Buildings, Data Centers, Infrastructure and Industries. With global presence in over 100 countries, Schneider is the undisputable leader in Power Management – Medium Voltage, Low Voltage and Secure Power, and in Automation Systems. They provide integrated efficiency solutions, combining energy, automation and software.
Schneider was already using few BI tools, but their major challenge was purchasing analytics regionally by bringing together as a global platform where they could get supplier’s performance and track back orders with respect to quality, speed, price and delivery while standardizing the purchase.
Their goal was to get a robust solution that would help them with their huge volume of data from all around the world.
Schneider had SQL, SAP (front end), Box (flat files), and others as their data source. After the implementation of Birst, they got reports using different metrics such as spend, back-orders, purchase orders, pricing, realized savings, etc attached with suppliers, customers, items, etc. The solution was built for COE team, business team and Schneider’s suppliers.
The first phase was developed by Birst. GainInsights stepped in to provide end to end solution for Schneider by continuing and enhancing the first phase which includes design, development and support.
We developed ETL performance tuning which helps in faster data extraction. Previously, the data extraction used to take 4 days which was now reduced to 2.5 days because of ETL performance tuning. Earlier, the ETL required some manual effort for the beginning phase of ETL but we built fully automated ETL which has eliminated their manual efforts and hence led to cost saving of manpower. Report bursting, a feature in which reports are common and filters the data and send it to suppliers, used to take 60 hours which was now reduced to 30 hours. Schneider is now able to track back orders, find out the best supplier, region wise cost savings, savings (daily, quarterly, monthly and yearly) in their reports.
